Allseating’s Prata Wins 2021 GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN Platinum Award

Allseating announced that Prata has been selected as a recipient of the 2021 GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN Platinum award. This year with INT. Design’s 14th edition, the GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN Awards celebrate and reward the work of design and architecture professionals who aim to improve our quality of life and the built environment across a variety of categories such as commerce, hospitality, office, and residential.

“Our team is thrilled to be recognized by the GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN Awards for our work with Carl Gustav Magnusson of CGM Design,” says Cindy Lawton-Moreby, Vice President of Sales at Allseating. “Prata’s innovative design balances vintage luxury with traditional craftsmanship to create a unique conference chair that opens conversation and sparks collaboration.”

Meaning “to speak” in Swedish, Prata boldly invites conversation. Inspired by the conference room where chairs are seldom seen from the front and are tucked into the table, Prata makes a bold first impression, with an inviting yet commanding presence. As an aficionado of vintage luxury cars, Magnusson integrated many automobile-inspired features into Prata’s design. Its polished aluminum seat frame houses elegant aluminum side levers. The proprietary levers move smoothly and decisively, adding confidence to the user, just as consumers would expect from the seat and dashboard controls built into high-end cars. Adding to its elegant and simplistic appearance, the shell of the chair is intentionally neutral and available in a multitude of combinations, including leather, fabric, dual fabric, or contrasting patches of different materials. Prata is available in a polished aluminum finish and has two back height variations, low-back and mid-back, to expand design possibilities.

Created in 2007 in Montréal, a UNESCO City of Design, with the mission of recognizing the excellence of designers and architects who have distinguished themselves through exemplary practice, the GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN Awards was originally open exclusively to firms and professionals with a place of business in Québec. Since then, the competition has grown internationally.

The GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN Awards Gala was hosted over two separate nights in Quebec and Montréal. The competition recruited seventy leading professionals, prominent academics, and influential press members to assess the excellence of the projects and products presented. The gala announced the winners of the seven winning classes across the twenty categories. As the winner of the Platinum award in the Office category, Prata has been published in the 83rd edition of INTÉRIEURS magazine, which is available for purchase through PID Agency.
