Freeflow

At Senator, we believe incredible things happen when people have the opportunity to work better. Move better. Collaborate better. Focus better. Be better.

Technological innovation lies at the heart of Senator because we know better is achieved through continual experimentation, obsessing over every detail, and never compromising.

Never be afraid to start again, be different, or break the mold. Dreaming up ground-breaking new ideas isn’t enough – we want to make them a physical reality. Today, our world-class designers, engineers, and technicians, continue to cook up trailblazing innovations within our global lab.

Introduction: We set out to develop a chair that would rip up the rule book.

FreeFlow is not just another office chair that adds complexity with more functionality, more parts, more weight, and more carbon. FreeFlow does the opposite, achieving more with less. It's better yet simpler. User-friendly, not overcomplicated. Our secret strength lies in the introduction of two new technologies: Auto-Adaptec® and Fin-Tec®.

Ergonomics: If you speak with any occupational physician or ergonomist, you will often hear the same thing: people are not designed for sitting. As a result, industrialized nations are among those most commonly affected by back pain.

The primary cause of back pain stems from sitting incorrectly or for extended periods. This places undue strain on the back, as sitting is an unnatural posture—our bodies are fundamentally designed for standing. Recognizing this, FreeFlow’s innovative design focuses on user well-being, addressing the core question: how can people sit better for longer?

While the concept of a supportive office chair isn’t new, most chairs are overly complex. They rely on a multitude of small adjustments to tailor support, but how often do users actually make those adjustments? Are they intuitive? In today’s era of hybrid work, where chairs are often shared rather than personalized, these questions are more relevant than ever.

This cultural shift often results in users failing to adjust their chairs properly—or worse, not adjusting them at all—leading to poor posture and extended discomfort. Auto-AdapTec® offers a revolutionary solution by providing continuous, dynamic support for the upper and lower back. Its design prioritizes maintaining an upright pelvis, a cornerstone of a healthy sitting posture. By seamlessly adapting to the user’s movements and reclining positions, Auto-AdapTec® ensures consistent support while naturally aligning with the spine’s curvature— without any manual Lumbar adjustments.

Function: More Office Chairs are coming to the market with increasingly sophisticated concepts that are designed to counteract incorrect sitting, such as: lumbar adjustment, seat tilt, height adjustment for the back, and unnatural locking positions — all this means is — most Office Chairs do what they want not what you want.

To make an office chair automatically adapt to every user has taken years of development, innovation, and experimentation. FreeFlow unites seat and backrest to create one harmonious and flowing movement that gives every user constant support without the need for physical intervention or adjustment.

The Spine that connects FreeFlow’s seat and backrest is more than visually striking, it mimics the user’s spine and pelvis without any adjustment. This automatic synchronization allows every user to instantly sit correctly and comfortably — we call this Auto-AdapTec®.

Furthermore, as we recline and move our back shape changes, this change is replicated by the FinTec® technology inside the upholstered backrest. Fin-Tec® mimics the shape of the user’s back, flexing horizontally and vertically, cushioning and supporting the user’s back as they move throughout the day.

FreeFlow also includes: 4d height-adjustable arms (height, width, depth, and angle), adjustable seat depth, seat height adjustment, and upright back-lock further enhancing the user’s personalization of FreeFlow should they require it.

Technical information in greater detail: FreeFlow enables automatic and synchronized support to every user through two unique technologies: Auto-AdapTec® and FinTec®.

Auto-AdapTec® leverages the ergonomic benefits of the minimal height difference in the iliac crest — ranging from a fifth-percentile woman to a ninety-fifth-percentile man — and the natural curvature of the human spine.

This innovation creates an optimally supportive seating position. As the user reclines, FreeFlow’s Auto- AdapTec® technology automatically adjusts, ensuring constant contact with the lower part of the user’s back — negating the need for an adjustable Lumbar.

Unlike most office chairs which often fail to provide full back support due to design limitations or the need for manual adjustments, Auto-AdapTec® ensures 100% full-length support to every user’s back.

FinTec® is a series of innovative nylon curve supports encased in layered foam, offering users the perfect balance of support and flexibility throughout their workday. Designed to flex both horizontally and vertically, FinTec® adapts seamlessly to each user’s movements, unlike most office chairs that have a static backrest.

The chair’s backrest is also upholstered in a high-performance 3D Knit, available in a curated selection of colors. This advanced material accommodates the dynamic movements of the backrest and is crafted using a zero-waste production process, aligning with sustainable manufacturing practices.

Reduction: We believe progress lies in technological innovation. We take responsibility for the design, sourcing, and manufacturing of our products. Our goal is to create products that meet or exceed our standards for sustainability, performance, and traceability. Because of this, FreeFlow has been meticulously engineered to do more with less.

Less weight: A traditional office chair uses a mechanical mechanism that weighs an average 5 lbs. This mechanism houses all the functionality that makes your office work. By removing this and replacing it with the generation of a blade body-balanced mechanism, FreeFlow immediately becomes visually but also physically lighter. With weight being one of the biggest carbon drivers in shipping, any reduction can have significant carbon reductions.

Less waste: The backrest of FreeFlow is upholstered in a technical 3D Knit available in a select range of colors, this material can cope with constant movement but is also knitted bespoke to size, creating a waste-free method of production.
