Star Tile Flies Morph Code into the Cosmic Language Codes Series

The latest from Star Tile

From the Cosmic Language Codes Series comes Morph Code, a Star Tile pattern that embodies all the energy, dynamic structure, and function found in the geometry of insect wings.

A true biophilic creation, Morph Code consists of an even number of left and right pentagon shapes (6 in. x 3 ¾ in.) that make up one fixed layout applicable for interior and exterior walls and ceilings. Paired with unlimited glazing options, each tile achieves a lightweight yet powerful form that can be utilized across a spectrum of interior styles.

Just like a wing does in flight, Morph Code illustrates how—throughout nature—strength lies in distributed networks. “Systems designed to spread energy and stress across many points achieve greater resilience and adaptability,” explained Andrea Keller, Star Tile partner + designer. “Each pattern in nature embodies a specific universal truth. When we go beyond their surface function, we can understand these designs as expressions of our world’s inherent intelligence, or in other words—its cosmic language,” she said.

A few of the lessons to be learned from Morph as a pattern and its application can be found in: • The blueprint of an insect’s wing’s vein networks: our minds can subconsciously recognize this fractal arrangement that mirrors similar patterns found in nature, such as river systems, tree branches, and even human vasculature. • The asymmetry of an insect’s wing’s motion: this enables precise maneuvers and rapid changes in direction, all of which our eyes can follow when applied to the wall or ceiling. • The material efficiency of an insect’s wing’s membrane: its razor-thin flexibility and elasticity reveal how minimalism can equate to maximum functionality and strength.

“All of the above helps us as designers to reflect the balance and symmetry the brain instinctively craves, or what we might call ‘like recognizing like,’” said Mikayla Mitchell, Star Tile partner + designer. “By embedding these codes into our tiles, we create tools for realignment and restoration, transforming spaces into environments that are not just functional but deeply nourishing.”
And that is always Star Tile’s goal: to create pieces that move beyond mere aesthetics to become living expressions of universal energy.

“We believe that the spaces we inhabit should do more than look beautiful, they should invite us to align with something greater.”
