Trove by Encore: Nesting Chairs Designed to Maximize Space and Minimize Effort

Encore has introduced Trove, a cleverly engineered line of nesting chairs and coordinating swivel models that blend modern aesthetics with practical utility. Designed by David Ritch and Mark Saffell of 5D Studio, Trove is distinguished by its unique passive-nesting capabilities that allow chairs to be effortlessly pushed together, creating a tidy and organized arrangement with minimal effort.

Trove’s ultra-modern silhouette features an open-back nylon shell, available with optional upholstered seat and back pads. Subtle contours enhance comfort by supporting natural movement, while the gently flexing backrest serves double-duty as it tapers down to create soft contact points for the arms. This sculpted form not only elevates visual appeal, but also contributes to an enhanced sitting experience.

“When we set out to design Trove, our goal was to create a nesting chair that doesn’t look like one,” says Mark Saffell, partner at 5D Studio. “We wanted Trove to be a beautiful, seamless chair that could blend into any setting while still offering the practicality of nesting. The idea was to combine the seat and back into a unified form that feels integrated and sophisticated, regardless of the type of base or the environment.”

True to that intent, Trove offers multiple nesting base styles, including a 4-leg metal frame with glides or casters and a wood-leg version on glides. Two swivel models are also available: one with height adjustability on casters, suitable for meeting or task applications, and another stationary version with self-return.

Further extending its adaptability are a range of shell and frame colors, with nylon shells available in white, black, and charcoal gray, and frame finishes offered in an array of neutrals, earth tones, and vibrant hues.

Engineered with efficiency in mind, Trove’s slim frame and compact footprint are ideal for spaces where floor space is at a premium, such as meeting rooms, lecture halls, cafeterias, and conference centers. And, with its signature look and exceptional versatility, it’s poised to become a go-to solution for interiors that demand both performance and sophistication.
