Allermuir Introduces Ricco by Studio Ballendat

Through a meticulous and scientific reduction process, we’ve created a chair that redefines simplicity. Ricco, a chair born from a single swoosh, is not only visually and physically lightweight but also a remarkable engineering feat.

Harmony

Created to elegantly blend into any space from light touch down, conference, executive, or home working, Ricco’s pure design makes it the ideal choice for any working environment.

The warm, luxurious color palette, complemented by a bespoke mesh, seamlessly merges the support and breathability of traditional mesh with the refined qualities of a luxury fabric. This fusion allows Ricco to effortlessly bridge the gap between workplace functionality and residential elegance.

Comfort:

Inviting you to do more than just sit, Ricco invites you to touch. While minimalism can often be perceived as cold, Ricco’s innovative design challenges this notion by maximizing both comfort and stylistic details. Its thoughtful design ensures users have a rich sensory experience, making every interaction feel intuitive and warm.

The seat and back of Ricco are crafted from a bespoke fabric, combining boucle and nylon monofilament yarns expertly woven together to create a self-supporting, tensioned mesh with a soft, inviting touch. This fusion of technology and luxury is knitted solely for Allermuir, resulting in a mesh that is anything but mesh.

— Rounded radius, arm detailing

— Seat and back mesh tolerance

— Tactile Boucle Knit

— Classic full upholstery as available on the seat

Artistry:

The art of Ricco is there is no lift, but all the functionality of reclining.

When users recline in a conventional chair, they feel the motion of their body moving backward and the back of their legs moving upwards. This gives unwanted lift and creates an unbalanced motion. This is a clunky and very simplistic way of making a chair recline.

To address this challenge, we developed Pivot-tec®, a unique engineering solution that identifies three key pivot points for an integrated, weight-activated, and synchronized recline. This ensures a comfortable, controlled seating position, allowing users to recline gracefully.

Pivot-tec is not just integrated into the chair’s frame, but it is the chair’s frame.

Pivot-tec® integrates the seat height adjustment and upright back lock to offer enhanced functionality — with no compromise to Ricco’s overall design.

— Self-supporting, tensioned, soft-touch mesh, seat and back

— Integrated, weight-activated, synchronized tilting action

— Seat height adjustment and upright back lock

— Frame components are available in four finishes, always with complimentary mesh color: Black, Light Grey, Blue, and Copper

Sustainability:

Nothing was added, only taken away. This process of reduction lies solely in technological innovation. We take responsibility for the design, sourcing, and manufacturing of our products. Our goal is to create products that meet or exceed our standards for sustainability, performance, and traceability. Because of this, Ricco has been meticulously engineered to do more with less.

Less components:

The visually light design of Ricco highlights that fewer components mean less manufacturing, assembly, disassembly, and recycling at the end of life. This reduction in complexity helps to minimize the overall material burden, making Ricco a more sustainable choice.

The Pivot-tec technology in Ricco eliminates the need for conventional mechanisms that house the traditional functions of a chair. With carbon emissions of 75.6 kg CO2e from cradle to gate (based on product model RIC115), Ricco’s reduction in componentry helps it perform exceptionally well from a sustainability perspective.

Less waste:

The seat and back of Ricco use a bespoke, technically knitted material that is knitted to size, creating a waste-free method of production.

More transparency:

We believe companies should be accountable for the impact of their products, this is why every Ricco product, within the Ricco family, comes with a Life-cycle assessment (LCA).

LCAs are a blueprint for every product and can be used to study the environmental impact of the energy and raw materials consumed, the emissions, and the wastes generated in manufacturing Ricco.
