Landscape Forms introduces Monterey, the company’s first cushioned outdoor seating offering. The line adds a new dimension to the Landscape Forms portfolio, applying the company’s hallmark craft, durability and quality of fit and finish to a new category of outdoor site furnishing solutions.
"Monterey is an exciting, breakthrough product for us, filling a gap in our portfolio as our entry into the soft seating category,” says Landscape Forms Chief Innovation Officer, Kirt Martin. "It stands out in the market, combining industry-leading, recognizably Landscape Forms metal craftsmanship with our take on sophisticated, very premium outdoor cushioning to match. There’s nothing else quite like this out there.”
Including a club chair, a sofa and left, right, and u-shaped sectionals, the Monterey line features welded and powdercoated metal rod frames that cradle cushioned seats and backs. Gently rounded corners and sense of continuous curvature—including a sculpturally bent rod that seamlessly forms the entire perimeter of the frame—communicate Monterey’s aim to provide exceptional comfort in a refined, high-design aesthetic.
Designed to elegantly bring the softness and inviting character of interior spaces outside, Monterey is especially suited to serve upscale outdoor amenity spaces, stylish rooftop decks, modern outdoor common areas on corporate campuses, and in conjunction with open air structure solutions like the company’s Upfit system.
As Landscape Forms’ first soft seating offering, much research and development was devoted to ensuring Monterey’s fabric seats and backs met the company’s high standards for aesthetics, quality and durability. "We’re leaders in creating beauty and longevity in the outdoor environment, and Monterey is no different,” describes Landscape Forms Director of Design, Ryan Heiser. "Just as we would for any metal or wood site furnishing, we put the same attention to detail into ensuring that the fabric cushions were exceptionally crafted, robust, and able to gracefully withstand the elements outside,” he continues. “Working in-house and also leveraging the expertise of our partners at Summit Furniture, we really delved into the cushion development, iterating and trying out many material combinations to achieve outdoor space durability with a tailored, refined and super premium appearance.”
Crafted from Summit’s Tradewind weather-, fade- and abrasion-resistant performance fabric, Monterey’s cushions combine the hardwearing nature of an outdoor site furnishing with a quality of upholstery detailing often reserved for premium indoor furniture. The fabric comes together in elegant French seams and concealed zippers, while a dart on the each of the cushions’ corners lends smooth and beautifully rounded form. Monterey is offered in a range of colors for the fabric and powdercoated frame, and accommodations can be made for custom color combinations.
