Momentum Textiles & Wallcovering Introduces Circon: The First Bio-Sourced, Carbon-Neutral, Recyclable Type II Vinyl Wallcovering

Momentum Textiles & Wallcovering, in collaboration with Versa Designed Surfaces, proudly announces the launch of Circon™ –– a revolutionary bio-sourced, carbon-neutral Type II vinyl wallcovering. Created to address the growing demand for sustainable and high-performance solutions in commercial interiors across workplaces, hospitality venues, educational institutions, Circon establishes a new benchmark in wallcovering innovation.

The patent-pending Circon introduces a groundbreaking approach to wallcovering technology. It integrates the durability of traditional vinyl with over 70% bio-sourced, rapidly renewable resources, offering an environmentally friendly alternative without compromising on quality or aesthetics. Key components include 100% renewable wood-based feedstock from sustainable forestry, an algae-like base material that sequesters carbon during its formation, and a proprietary bio-based backing that is fully renewable and sequesters carbon during growth.

Crafted locally in North America, every yard of Circon exerts a sustainable impact far beyond its project life. This innovative composition not only dramatically reduces fossil-fuel derived PVC content and the product’s carbon footprint but also actively works to offset it, ensuring a closed-loop lifecycle through complete recyclability and a robust reclamation program. During manufacturing, any excess or selvage is immediately recycled, minimizing waste while maximizing the lifespan of the materials used in interior spaces. Engineered for long-term durability, Circon features a thick and resilient construction and surpasses Type II testing standards, encompassing essential components such as stain resistance, strength, and cleanability.

Circon eliminates the dilemma of prioritizing performance, cost, and environmental stewardship. It offers an affordable and sustainable middle ground with a price point comparable to traditional vinyl while significantly reducing environmental impact. This cost-effective solution empowers businesses in transitioning to sustainable practices, facilitating the attainment of carbon-neutral and ESG goals without fiscal compromise.

Not only does Circon contribute to fostering eco-conscious built environments, but its designs also uphold high aesthetic standards to match its sustainable construction. The debut Circon collection, which launches in September 2024, features four designs: Zari, Miro, Miro Texture, and Loma, each celebrating nature’s beauty and the renewal it inspires.

Zari captures the interplay of sunlight and cloth through silken metallic stitching. Evoking the artisanal quality of embroidery, it imbues spaces with warmth. Miro Texture provides a versatile backdrop for interiors reminiscent of a freshly primed canvas, with a flaxen emboss emulating linen fabric. Miro builds upon the foundation of Miro Texture, introducing abstract collage elements. Resembling a composition of torn paper, gossamer fabric scraps, and bold brush strokes, it makes a dynamic, expressive statement. Loma’s hand-drawn motifs blend organic shapes with geometric precision, echoing the forms of Southwestern mesas and plateaus.

Inspired by nature and art, the designs offer diverse aesthetics that create visually stimulating and dynamic environments, igniting creativity and inspiration. Circon's carefully curated color palette, from earthy tones to soft, cool hues, promotes focus and relaxation. Tranquil sage and dusty blue shades create a calm, soothing ambiance, while more vibrant colors like saturated terracotta invigorate spaces, encouraging engagement. By incorporating natural patterns and colors, such as the desert-inspired Loma and the organic shades of rustic landscapes, Circon nurtures a sense of connection to the natural world, enhancing user well-being.

Beyond the four primary patterns, Circon can be specified for any of the 100+ designs in the Momentum Versa Collection. Furthermore, it can be specified as the substrate for Momentum's Digital Creations collection, providing specifiers with a plethora of options, ranging from Momentum’s curated designs to artist collaborations like British-Nigerian multi-disciplinary artist Yinka Ilori, or bespoke art and designs. Circon aligns with the emphasis of environmental specification in the contract space, all while maintaining exceptional aesthetic value.
