Carl Hansen Introduces Studio CHS - Elevating Custom Furniture in the US

Since 1908, the well-known design classics of the Danish family business Carl Hansen & Son have become a staple fixture in many homes around the world. Now the iconic furniture company is expanding its business with the introduction of a new initiative for the international contract market. Hotels, restaurants, and offices will now have the opportunity to customize their own unique furniture– all made with Danish craftsmanship traditions of the highest caliber.

“With Studio CHS, we are bringing Carl Hansen & Son’s design philosophy and tradition of uncompromising craftsmanship to the contract market. We have a long tradition of producing high-quality and timeless designed furniture, and we are continuing this tradition - this time in dedicated partnership with hotels, restaurants and offices around the world,” says Knud Erik Hansen, third generation-owner and CEO of Carl Hansen & Son.

Studio CHS offer a new off-the-shelf furniture collection by designers such as German Andreas Kowalewski, British Jordan Littler and Ben Webb, and Danish Kai Lyngfeldt Larsen and Henry Hans Schubell. In addition to the new collection, customers can tailor furniture to their own needs and preferences. As an extraordinary service, Studio CHS also offers clients the option of designing their very own furniture line. “By closely collaborating with customers in the creative process, we are able to offer completely new opportunities.

From initial sketch to finished product, we give our clients the opportunity to create unique furniture tailored to their specific needs. It makes me very proud that we are now expanding accessibility to good craftsmanship and classic design for the benefit of even more people around the world,” says Knud Erik Hansen.

All furniture from Studio CHS is produced at Carl Hansen & Son’s own factory in Vietnam where Mark Nam Hansen, the fourth generation of the family business, is in charge. At the factory, the entire production is gathered in one integrated supply chain with its own wood processing plant, sawmill, wood dryer as well as internal carving, testing facility, weaving and upholstery workshops. This ensures sustainable production, quality furniture and security of supply.
