J+J Flooring’s Warp & Weft Collection Reinterprets Art of Woven Textiles Into Tufted Carpet Format

The new Warp & Weft tufted carpet plank collection from J+J Flooring was inspired by the rhythmic motion of the weaver’s hands as they intertwine the different components of the loom. The result – an inspired creation – is the fusion of textile artistry and technical skill. Leveraging the latest carpet manufacturing technology, J+J Flooring delivers new options for contract flooring design and application.

“To conceptualize this collection, we looked at how the warp and the weft work together to create a range of scale, pattern and texture in a woven product,” said Laura Holzer, Design Manager at J+J Flooring. “We wanted to test the limits and challenge our capabilities as textile designers and manufacturers to see what we could achieve with the latest tufting technology, focusing specifically on a lighter-weight construction.”

Three 18" x 36" collection styles reinterpret woven visuals into a tufted format across different scales of design and texture. Quill, Reed and Tabby are available for specification in 10 coordinating colorway options that employ an array of warm and cool accents – from cobalt to clay and yellow-green to gray. The visuals provided by the melding of textile arts and sciences seen in Warp & Weft help inject warmth, beauty and a sense of comfort into commercial interiors.

“The color stories we chose for Warp & Weft are fresh and new, but not especially bold,” said Holzer. “They come across as subtle neutrals – even as accent colors – making them easier to specify in a variety of contract spaces.”

Warp & Weft’s Quill is a hazy abstract tapestry of dusky neutrals that weave in slivers of richer color in a smaller scale. Coordinating Reed brings an asymmetrical balance to structured patterns by blending and layering softened geometrics at a medium scale. Tabby’s bold, fragmented large-scale geometric nature features an overlay of irregular neutral colorations that render an organic, contemporary design. The entire Warp & Weft system can be used to create unique floorscapes unified by the same base color and design inspiration.

“The way this collection was designed and engineered allows for near endless installation options where the edges between the planks virtually disappear,” said Holzer. “We have created a beautiful patterned product at a low weight that mimics woven visuals in a tufted format that is especially durable and perfect for high-traffic areas.”

Warp & Weft’s range of color, pattern and texture comes to life with Encore® SD Ultima® Nylon. This commercial fiber is specifically engineered to ensure maximum appearance retention, exceptional performance, practicality, color vibrancy, and sustainability. Collection styles come standard on Nexus Modular backing, which contains pre-consumer recycled content, contributes to LEED certification, and is ultimately recyclable through the J+J Flooring R4 Carpet Reclamation Program.

As the newest addition to J+J Flooring’s portfolio of solutions, Warp & Weft carpet planks were designed to effortlessly coordinate with each other and other products and platforms from the manufacturer, including modular carpet tile, broadloom, LVT and Kinetex textile composite flooring. Specifiers have free rein to design beautiful flooring systems that blend a range of designs with tonal simplicity, creating palettes that reflect the demands of each inspired space and application.
