Hightower is excited to announce that the HEB collection of tables is now available to the North American market. Previously launched by design partner +Halle in Europe, HEB is a line of tables that marries bold industrial design with playful, human touch.
A HEB beam is a type of steel beam commonly used in the construction industry and mechanical engineering. Featuring aluminum HEB beams as their base, this collection presents creativity with various finish options to create vibrant, multi-colored sculptures perfect for work, dining, or gathering. The sleek, round tabletops are designed to inspire shared experiences and transform any space with their durable and expressive form.
HEB was designed by Krøyer-Sætter-Lassen, a design studio based in Copenhagen founded in 2016 by Emil Krøyer and Mads Sætter-Lassen. For Krøyer-Sætter-Lassen, the idea of redefining bright-colored beams came from their studio environment. Housed in a tunnel factory in Copenhagen, Krøyer-Sætter-Lassen found beauty in the surrounding red steel structure — a system they were looking to repurpose.
“Repurposing an industrial product, such as the standard HEB beam, and placing it into a new context makes a lot of sense to us,” Mads Saetter-Lassen noted. “It’s a bit like French artist and modernist Marcel Duchamp’s Fountain, where you begin to look at an object differently. We believe that these are lessons that can be applied to furniture today.”
In contrast to the industrial beam legs, the HEB tabletops come with a matte, tactile, laminate surface wrapped in a glossy ABS (an opaque thermoplastic) ribbon, available in seven colors that you can mix and match for the table base, top, and edge band. This combination of materials brings a warm, human, and overall comfortable feeling across the range. Lounge and Standard height options are available in three different tabletop diameters: 16.5 inches, 27.6 inches, and 35.4 inches.
