Designed from the heart and crafted by hand, the guest and dining chair brings the human touch back into furniture. Consideration for environmental impact and sustainability was central to the materials selected to create Yarn. The mod physique and minimalist frame highlight the intricate hand-braided back detail crafted from hemp fiber. The upholstered seat and back cushions are padded with a layer of hairlok – a mixture of horsehair and natural latex - and 100% Swedish needle felted wool. Yarn's steel frame is built from recycled steel, and the plywood within the seat is sourced from responsibly managed forestry practices.
The functional beauty of Yarn continues to elevate the conversation about furniture design's impact on the environment. Fascinated with geometry and inspired by relief patterns, furniture designer Mia Cullin held equal value to materials, construction, and innovation when developing Yarn. Designed with no concealed truths, Yarn portrays the power of natural material and is the future of design. Yarn is the winner of the Best of NeoCon Award in the Innovation category.
