Pierre-Louis Gerlier combines work desk + long chair in 'chaise renversée'

French architect Pierre-Louis gerlier has designed the ‘chaise renversée’, a lightweight desk that can also be transformed into a long chair. The design idea was conceived after considering the various ways people use everyday objects in small living spaces, for either business or recreation purposes.

‘Chaise renversée’ by Pierre-Louis Gerlier provides a steady work surface, but at the same time, it can be converted to a comfortable ‘chaise longue’ where one can settle and relax while reading, playing or watching a movie on a tablet. Chaise renversée is a desk for those who do not wish to have a desk‘ the architect points out, referring to people who use desks only for replying to emails or paying the bills, and generally find them inconvenient and cumbersome. alternatively, the project targets those who would like to have a lounge chair available right after finishing their desk work.
