Let’s face it. It is easy to sometimes forget to use your sit-stand desk. Everyone likes the idea of having the option to stand while working, but when employees get busy it is often hard to remember that you can stand and work in different positions. To help remind desk users to keep moving throughout the day, LINAK created the popular Desk Control™ App, which is now available in for Windows 10 PCs. With the app, users can get extensive statistics, personalization options, and reminders to stand all on their computer. Making the transition from sitting to standing an even more seamless process for desk users.
This new feature offers height adjustable desk users hands-free options for adjusting their desks. This is useful for those that are using a shared desk, especially during these unique times where we are more focused on the cleanliness and safety of our workspaces. By controlling the desk with the computer, the new app provides an instant solution to hands-free worries as users will not have to touch the switch or controls on their desk. The desk can be easily adjusted with just a click of the mouse without interrupting their work.
With the app, desk users also have an even easier way to monitor and improve their healthy work habits. Friendly reminders will urge them to change position at regular intervals, while detailed statistics display immediate status and daily achievements – all to help users build a healthy routine during the working day. For the more enthusiastic user, the app offers a choice of three sit-stand challenges, allowing them to actively follow his/her progress on the PC screen.
The app works specifically with any office desk equipped with either of the LINAK® Desk Panels, DPG1M, DPG1B or DPG1C. The app not only brings extra value to manufacturers adding these products to their furniture, but to the employers and desk users who get to see the real benefits of using the app in their daily routine.
“The end goal is to ensure office workers and even those working from home get all the health and performance benefits that their sit-stand desks are designed to bring them,” says Andy Siwicki, senior director of DESKLINE at LINAK U.S. “If employees are not standing and moving at regular intervals, then they won’t have the opportunity for extra energy, improved focus, increased productivity and better health. Which is a loss for them and a loss for their employer.”
Reminders can be a big part of the solution to ensuring that sit-stand desks get used. In fact, a research study conducted by Danish behavioral design agency KL.7, investigated how much of an impact they really could have. In monitoring 54 office workers and collecting data on over 9,100 observations and 4,500 hours of sit-stand activity, they found that reminders helped increase average standing time for those considered light desk users by 117%.
It is important that these healthy habits become an integrated part of sit-stand desk users daily working lives. And the Desk Control App makes it that much easier.
