Jamie Stern Furniture, Carpet & Leather Introduces the Algarve Collection
Jamie Stern Furniture, Carpet & Leather, in a continued expansion of their recently launched textiles division, has announced the introduction of the Algarve Collection. This latest collection was a collaborative effort between Jeannene Doub and Jamie Stern, drawing on their respective decades of experience in textile design and A&D sales.
Taking its name from the southernmost region of Portugal, Jamie Stern’s Algarve Collection features five patterned fabrics that range from large-scale geometrics to non-repeating organics. These diverse woven textiles draw inspiration from the Algarve’s coastal geography as well as the Moorish, Roman and Mediterranean architecture found there. The colors are all elegant neutrals that accentuate the beautiful patterns and rich textures that define this new collection.
The Algarve Collection comes in five patterns — Alley-Oop, Alter Ego, Beckett, Briolette and Kickback. Further details on each fabric are listed below:
Alley-Oop features a seemingly unstructured design that embraces the irregular beauty of unburnished plaster walls. This is a fabric that keeps the eye moving with its free-flowing pattern and unmistakable sense of depth. All three of Alley-Oop’s colorways are subtle and understated, complementing its timeless pattern without ever distracting from it. Alter Ego is a richly complex upholstery fabric that takes its inspiration from the azulejos or Portuguese tilework. Featuring a mixture of overlapping textured surface yarns, its design is both playful yet timeless, engaging yet soothing. Both of the colorways of Alter Ego are classic selections that work seamlessly with its pattern to create a unique style unlike any other. Beckett combines abstract, meandering lines with a distinct diagonal pattern to create an intricate design inspired by the cobblestone paths and tiled sidewalks of Portugal. The resulting maze-like effect is highly detailed and meticulous while still exuding a calm, meditative quality. Beckett’s four standard colorways also nod to Portugal’s coastal landscape and the natural hues found there. Briolette features a bold graphic diamond pattern that showcases an authentic retro style in a fresh new light. Its two-tone Art Deco motif playfully contrasts its soft textural yarns resulting in a fabric that is both artful yet comforting. Briolette’s two harmonious colorways draw inspiration from the earthy neutral tones found throughout the Algarve’s diverse terrain. Kickback suggests lazy days on the beach with its unassuming wavy pattern and organically sculpted surface texture. By incorporating soft variations in yard color and a flowing weave structure, this relaxed fabric mimics the depth and shadows of rippled sand. Kickback’s abstract texture is ideally suited for curved furniture but can be used to upholster more traditional pieces to equally beautiful effect.
The collection is suitable for a wide array of hospitality, corporate and residential applications.
