New Launch from Louis Poulsen: Dependant

Louis Poulsen introduces the Dependant suspension system, designed by Danish design studio Kilo Design, which allows the clustering of multiple pendants to create larger installations. Designed for flexible use in a variety of settings, the adaptable system comes in a linear version, which holds three or five pendants. It also comes in a circular version that can hold four or six pendants.

All variants of the system can safely hold Louis Poulsen pendant favorites and classics weighing under 5 kg. These include the VL45, Above, Toldbod, Cirque, and Wohlert as well as the PH 2/1, PH 3/2, PH 5 Mini, VL Ring Crown 1, Doo-Wop, and Moser.

Dependant allows for custom configuration of multiple pendants that delivers great impact with minimal effort, accentuating the lighting both in hospitality, office and commercial spaces and retail environments according to specific lighting needs and space requirements. Each pendant is suspended on the cord that has been provided with it. The system allows each pendant to be positioned at the preferred height. The system is easy to install and comes in three finishes – black, white, or metalized brass – to match the suspended pendants. Hanging fixtures can be installed horizontally, at the same level, or placed at different heights to create a more spherical shape.

“The design was inspired by the iconic pendants that will be suspended within the system. The system’s structures and transitions take cues from the design language you will find if you dive into the Louis Poulsen pendant collection. It was very important for us to create a system that would complement and feel familiar when used together with the pendants” --Lars Larsen, Kilo Design.

Kilo Design worked on the details, geometry, and finishes of the design, which allowed the system to be used with many different types of pendants ranging from classic pendants and glass shades to modern expressions. Their task was to create a suspension system that could be used by consumers and architects alike to mount multiple pendants to form large installations that create a strong impact through simple repetition.
